REALLY GOOD!

This book covers all the way up to the last two episodes of season 2. A lot like the Gravity Falls book that came out two years earlier. My personal favorite section is the Grandma Room which includes the tapastries of Mewnian queens. It include fun activities like "Design your own Dimensional Scissors" and has interviews between characters about thing such as hobbies and relationships. Has detailed info on many characters and is written by Star, Marco, Glosaryk and others. It really is a must have if you enjoy the show!

The best

This book provides excellent intuition into the fourier transform, discrete fourier transform, and fast fourier transform. There are no others that provide the depth of intuition.

If a reader should find it difficult, then he/she should be satisfied that the struggle is worth it and will lead to an exceptional understanding of the subject matter. All complaints are unjustified (though it might be nice if Brigham treated the Z transform as well).

Outstanding classic

I am mainly a neurobiologist by training, but transform theory is very useful in visual neurobiology and visual psychophysics, and I've looked at and read dozens of books on various aspects of signal processing and transform theory. Much of this is surprisingly applicable to the brain science area, as the revolutionary work of David Marr and other scientists showed a quarter of a century ago.
But getting back to the present book, this is one of the best books I've read in the signal analysis area. Brigham's presentation of various aspects of the FT, including the continuous FT, digital FT, convolution integrals, and so on, is clear and concise, whether he's discussing theory or applications. Also, his disussion of the Nyquist sampling theorem is the best and easiest to understand I've read.
Interestingly, this theorem has quite practical applications, not just in digital sample theory, but in real life. According to the Nyquist theorem, no information is lost in converting from analog to digital form if the sampling frequency is twice that of the highest frequency in the signal. Well, have you ever used those audio headphones they have on commercial jetliners? The Nyquist theorem means they can switch the audio outputs at high frequency using well-known time-domain switching techniques rather than run copper to each passenger's seat. I've read that this saves 300 pounds of copper wire in a typical plane, the weight savings of which can of course be more profitably used for transporting other things. If you consider that 300 pounds is about the weight of your average couple, you can see how the savings would add up after even a few flights.
But getting back to the book, I first encountered this work 20 years ago, and I'm delighted to see it's still around. My neurobiology student friends and I all got turned on to this book early in grad school, and it was a great help. I still fondly recall the many enjoyable hours we spent talking about how Fourier analysis and other techniques such as the Laplace transform, temporal modulation transfer fuction, two-dimensional convolution integrals, two-dimensional point-spread functons, filter techniques such as the finite and infinite response filters, Kalman filter, Hammond filter, and so on, could be applied to our area. And it all started with this book. It's a true classic that has never been exceeded for it's clear and concise exposition of a very important mathematical tool in both engineering and neurophysiology.

A Great Introduction to the FFT & How to Use It

Fourier transforms used to scare me. I got brain-lock, and couldn't even use them effectively in a package like Matlab or IDL. I got lost in integrals and delta functions and found myself rapidly sinking into mathematical quicksand. Evoking qliphotic demons from within a pentagram of power would have been simpler and less arcane.
Then along came Brigham. Although his book had all the gnarly math of any other Fourier transform explanation I had ever seen, he also drew diagrams--diagrams which allowed me to "get" what the language of mathematics had so clearly expressed. All of a sudden the integrals were tamed. I wasn't in quicksand, just a damp sidewalk at Adventureland, waiting for the Jungle Cruise.
And that was just the first couple of chapters! Brigham quickly moved into transform theory, applying the Fourier integral to convolution and correlation. Then into sampled waveforms and the discrete Fourier transform and its applications.
Finally, he presented the Fast Fourier Transform. Once again, he clarifies without obfuscating. I found the FFT moving from the hyper-arcane to the land of "Well, duh!" (Beware: The actual FFT code included is not particularly efficient. Find source code for implementation *elsewhere*.) He extends the FFT to convolution and correlation, as well as to two dimensions. He doesn't skimp on applications, either. He clarifies interferometry, time-difference-of-arrival, power spectrum analysis, and beamforming.
If you're not a signal processing wonk already, read this book. You may find it a powerful cure for DSP-phobia.

About the Author

Greaney writes another novel worthy of the Clancy name; another great Jack Ryan story

Though it remains difficult not to compare Greaney's novels to original Clancy works, he has done a surprisingly good job of reinvigorating the franchise. They hit on many of the Clancy trademarks: thrilling writing, plot twists, espionage, and some good old fashioned butt kicking. Commander in Chief (also known as the 11th Jack Ryan novel) hits just as well.

As most folks know, this is not Tom Clancy's work, Tom had not written a single book in a decade before he died. This is a franchise book, and another a good one. Mark Greaney is a talented writer, which he showed in his work in the prior "Clancy" novel Support and Defend and Full Force and Effect. Greaney keeps the trend going with this book, evoking the Clancy style and keeping the franchise alive.

In this novel, the plot revolves around oil and energy and its effects on global stability and a plot to manipulate the market to strengthen the Russians. Fiction? Sounds similar to the issues going on now. Just like Greaeny did with Full Force and Effect, where the plot centered on the at-that-time issue of North Korea, these books rope in present events to make the plot fee current. Very much the plot of any classic Clancy novel.

The writing is tight and well paced. If you liked Greaney's other Clancy interpretations, you will certainly like Commander in Chief. For those who have not given Greaney a chance, you should, at least to see if you like his take on Clancy works.

The Clancy franchise is slowly Dying

As a big fan of Jack Jr and The Campus, I'm constantly waiting for the next franchise book to roll out. This one started strong, but kept falling down and then ended up flat. The reason Clancy novels gained the popularity that they did was due to the realism and details that could easily be "real world" happenings. As former military, I know when certain details are true and when the author is blowing smoke. This book has more smoke blowing than any Clancy cover I've ever read. I don't know what prompted the Russian storyline for this book, but it has such huge plot holes, that it just never felt realistic. After spending at least 2/3 of the book building up certain aspects of the story, several sub-stories were simply pushed aside. At the end of the book, these sub-stories were given a quick "happily ever after" wrap up with no fanfare, making you wonder why the heck they spent so much time building up the lines in the first place (the nuclear missile sub is the largest of these forgotten side lines). There are a dozen very weak side line stories which so loosely tie into the main story that it makes the whole book feel like the author spent little time in thoughtful research of the book. While it was still pretty fun to read, the end of the book left me thinking WTF just happened here?

The story begins smoothly enough with Jack Ryan, Jr but the plot splits and twists with such speed and agility the reader may feel the need to put down the book and catch their breath!

Yet the moment you try to put this book down you'll discover the characters and the context won't let you go!

As with all of Greaney's books, the reader senses the inexorable draw toward the climax of the story. Greaney masterfully blends action & intrigue in such a delightful mix you'll find you simply choose to try to enter another chapter before sleep!

As the story ends, you'll be constantly struggling to discipline your reading speed so you don't miss any of the myriads of details found in the closing chapters. The reader intuitively knows there is much more to learn of these characters; it is this knowledge which allows the reader to process this extremely frustrating political d�nouement which reflects the true reality of "real politic!"

Mark Greaney's has exceeded my every imagined expectation in "Commander and Chief." His writing is crisp, clean and wonderfully seasoned with incredible amounts of detail. He once again has earned every star in a 5 Star rating! Bravo & Encore Mark!

Great Book on Microwave NDT&E ...

Dear Candidate Buyers,

I am a Ph.D. student at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in SUNY. I bought this book almost 2 months ago, and after buying from Amazon I used the book very often.

I am studying on Characterization of Dielectric Materials by a Microwave Non-Destructive method. The book is generally written good, but I do recommend this book to people studying and working on the special area of Characterization of Materials by Microwaves.

You can find in the literature lots of studies of the authors V. V. Varadan and V. K. Varadan, on characterization of materials by free-space non-destructive method. Their research group is one of the big scientic groups on Microwave NDT&E (Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation).

As a result, I rate this book 5 out of 5, but want to notify the prospective buyers of this book that this book is written for a book on a specific subject (characterization of materials by microwaves), it is not a text book (in my opinion).
