Book was good and nicely put together. Hope this does not come to fruition but the way the world is going looks like it could be tomorrow. These two authors have taken their time and researched the material which is something that is really nice. Accuracy is greatly appreciated!. When will book two becoming out...I cannot wait to see America strike back.

Highly recommend this book

This was a short but intense story. The more "end of days" books that I read, the more they become real. Unfortunately, most people refuse to consider this scenario and will be totally devastated when bad things start to unfold. God bless America and it's strongest ally Israel.

The Emperor Has No Clothes

Many books describing horrific attacks on the US by terrorists have been written since (and before) 9/11. They vary in quality from very good to pretty bad, this one is near the bottom. The seven 5 stars must come from 'true believers' who will up vote anything that sounds military, god-fearingly patriotic and has a prepper family inventorying their guns, ammo and food.

US president Zachary Space has noticed an irregularity (missed by everyone else) in a satellite view of Viet Nam that he remembers was different than when he was a soldier there “a life time ago”. He orders the satellite to make constant observations for 72 hours. This is not possible, the satellite will continue in its orbit. Space admits to being a conspiracy theorist and suspects the object is MH370.

Intercepted emails show the 'gitmo 5' secretly meeting in Baghdad to plot “Jihad Day”. People as closely followed as these guys couldn't secretly plan a surprise birthday party. Some how they get a hold of 84 Russian suitcase nukes. America is “prime picking” for a terrorist attack because:

"The continuing unbalanced political quandary in this country has made it easy for the terrorist to pit each party against each other and silently add to the inner destruction.The ever present racially divided country has been brought down to lower levels by permitting, allowing atrocities to be continuously happened without these groups ever coming to a compromise. A compromise that would make these governing bodies stop and commit to some self-reflection".

What does this mean? I don't know. Anyway, Islamic doctors, lawyers etc are living in the US and training Jihadists. The authors list 6 examples of home grown terrorists (out of 300,000,000 Americans) including Ana Montes (spy for Cuba, born in Germany), and Bradley Manning, but not Timothy McVeigh!

The thinly drawn protagonists are off to visit their bug-out compound. It is surrounded bu a 6' steel fence and 3 rows of razor wire and Claymore mines!

The spot in the mountains in Viet Nam is in fact MH370. Somehow, they built a mile of runway there and hauled up 200,000 pounds of jet fuel without attracting attention. It manages to reach Washington (far exceeding its range) with “nuclear weapons, chemical weapons and hundreds of pounds of explosives ”. What would a few hundred pounds of explosives add to the nukes?

Next comes a lecture on chemical and biological weapons lifted straight out of Wikipedia.

The rest of the book has the characters do human stuff for human interest, except it's not well written or interesting. They rescue an old man and his dog, who quotes bible verses about the end times.

No matter how much some people believe in this sort of fate for America, there are much better books to vote up, and nothing is gained by giving undeserved praise for any book this bad just because it has a desired message.

Shizuku Kanzaki is the son of a recently deceased, world renowned wine critic named Yutaka Kanzaki. Shizuku has never drunk, nor had any previous knowledge about wines, but with strong senses of taste and smell, honed from years of time spent with his father, Shizuku accepts the challenge, albeit with a little push from a young sommelier in training named Miyabi. In many ways his mentor and his muse, Miyabi teaches Shizuku the basics of wine and allows Shizuku to nurture his given talents as he begins his journey across the globe in search of the 13 bottles his father has selected for him to someday taste.

In the second volume of the Drops of God, Shizuku has lost his family home, and now he must go search for the first of the Twelve Apostles of Wine. Not knowing where to start, he turns to his new friends and collabrators for guidance. However, this poses a new problem. The world of wine is vast and is full of history. Where does a complete novice start? And with a co-worker who is madly obsessed with Italian wines, how will he ever find the proper perspective and direction needed to take on someone like the prince of wine criticism, Issei Tohmine?

Delightful on every level

I had never read manga until someone introduced me to this series, and it is just wonderful. I enjoy wine, but I'm not a connoisseur. These books made me want to up my game and learn more, and in fact I learned a lot from reading them. Now I'm determined to taste the "drops of god" they name in the stories. The characters are engaging, the drama will keep you reading eagerly and the art is charming.

A solid continuation to an ambitious series

Manga (Japanese comic books) are a bit different from American comic books, in that they cover a much wider range of topics. There are, for example, extremely detailed and accurate sports manga, gambling manga, educational manga and, most relevant here, cooking manga. It's not all people with enormous eyes and stupid hair punching each other. This manga focuses on wine, and treats it with an impressive balance of seriousness and humor.

The central conceit is that the main character has a superb ability to taste and appreciate wine, but no experience drinking or buying it. It is through his eyes that the reader is introduced to various concepts in wine. That the teaching is delivered via a combination of superb art and cheerful humor certainly helps.

This volume focuses on two main stories- a restaurant which must impress a stern critic with it's pairing of wine with each dish, and a competition between French and Italian wines at reasonable prices. This calls for many tastings, discussions of terrior, the villages and grand crus of Burgundy and Bordaux, and a rather amusing discussion of introverted pino noirs. As opposed to the extroverted pinos of California or New Zealand, for example. In context, it all makes sense, and I certainly have found that some wines strike me as cheerful and approachable.

My only critique is that these books have a profound bias towards French wine. Its not that the authors dismiss wines from other regions (in this book the main character says that he is blown away by the quality of an Italian wine) its just that they like French wine better. They have said as much in interviews. Rather wonderfully, they compared California reds to Americans- big, cheerful and just a little too friendly for Japanese people. French wines are a bit more restrained and take more effort go get to know, a more comfortable arrangement for a reserved Japanese person.

I rate these books so highly because I know just enough about wines to know I don't know much at all. These books put into words and images a great deal I have often felt or thought about wine, and inspired me to learn even more. I strongly recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in wine.

The whole drops of god series is amazing. It drops a lot of really good wine knowledge, is extremely entertaining, and a very easy read. Not to mention the fact that it's one of the most influential wine books of all time. A must read for anyone who loves wine!.

Super fun wish fulfillment

I will always buy the next installment of this series, and this is an excellent example of the reason why.

The reason? These books are just so much fun!

I mean who wouldn't want to be a spy at the age of 13? Then to go undercover and work for the bad guys? Beat up bullies at middle school with martial arts training? So much wish-fulfilment, you can't not have fun with it.

And that's where this book does right where the last book misfired a little for me. This book is all about Ben Ripley. He's the main character from start to finish, and he's awesome. Spy Camp, in my opinion, placed him strangely as the first-person narrator of another person's story (Erika Hale). But this one is near perfect.

With a new location at "Evil Spy School" we get to meet some new characters. Ashley and Nefarious were great additions and I loved them both. They had good backstories, although one of them felt a little flat.

The book had great suspense, which was easy given that most of it is a giant undercover plot with the fear of always getting caught.

And that's actually where things went a little south for me. This is the reason for 4 instead of 5 starts...

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

The part where Ben gets uncovered as a double-agent doesn't feel right. There is no way he should have been able to escape that situation. If the bad guys rigged the elaborate trap just for him, you'd have expected they would've also rigged a more idiot-proof way of catching him. It took me out of the story a bit.

That nit-pic aside, I loved all the extras added to the end. It was a great way to round out the book.

I'm already eagerly awaiting the next in the series.

I purchased this book for my grandson because he had read other books in this series, wanted to read this one, but couldn't fid it in the library. We read it together, and I enjoyed it as much as he did.

This is a good book. I will admit I feel sorry for the main character. I would recommend this book for all ages. My younger cousin really enjoyed it.

Great Book for Schools

It is a fabulous book for establishing a "whole School Approach" for someone new to restorative justice processes. There are clear, descriptive steps for how to initiate, establish and maintain a restorative justice program. I ordered it in hopes it would help me in my small (~45 students, 3 staff members) after-school, community center program but discovered it was aimed towards an institutional audience.

About the Author

Joe R. Feagin is Ella C. McFadden Professor in sociology at Texas A&M University. Feagin has done research on racism and sexism issues for decades. He has written 67 scholarly books and more than 200 scholarly articles in his research areas, and one of his books (Ghetto Revolts) was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. His numerous Routledge books include Systemic Racism: A Theory of Oppression (2006), Two Faced Racism: Whites in the Backstage and Frontstage (2007), White Party, White Government: Race, Class, and U.S. Politics (2012), The White Racial Frame (Second edition, 2013), and Racist America (Third Edition, 2014).

Feagin is the 2012 recipient of the Soka Gakkai International-USA Social Justice Award, the 2013 American Association for Affirmative Action’s Arthur Fletcher Lifetime Achievement Award, and the 2013 American Sociological Association’s W. E. B. Du Bois Career of Distinguished Scholarship Award. He was the 1999–2000 president of the American Sociological Association.

tell it like it is firefighter comes to Kevin’s rescue

The Bronco’s Boys series wraps up as soon as all of the men have found partners who deserve them. By the Round and Round book only Kevin still is single with no prospects. Well, that’s not quite true. He and Ken were almost a couple but that just didn’t work out.
When Kevin’s life and all of his property are threatened by a serial arsonist a rough, tell it like it is firefighter comes to Kevin’s rescue. Angus, or “MacDreamy Hotness” as Kevin comes to think about him, is the right match for Kevin. In fact, if you read Andrew Grey’s blog you will see there are more plans for Angus.
Neither man seems to understand the subtleties of flirting and dating. Therefore they misfire more than once. However, with the threats to Kevin’s life Angus isn’t willing to stand aside and let nature take its course. The arsonist and the fires, fatal to one important character, are the source of the angst in this book and it’s enough to glue you to the book until you finish it.
Bronco’s Boys is a series with more than a little drama, which sets it apart from some of Mr. Grey’s other books. I’ve loved following the adventures and misadventures of all of the men, who are close friends and as I always do with Mr. Grey’s series, I hate to see this one end. It ends on a high note with just the right HEAs for everyone, so I can put it aside to be read again another time.
I recommend this book for anyone who has read the rest of the series. It can comfortably be read as a stand alone but I think you will be drawn into their world and want to read the other books, too. And, if you drool over hot (in every sense of the word) firefighters, this is the book for you.

What Comes Around...

What a wonderful way to end a series. Three mid-20s gay men who are best of friends (Zach, Jeremy, Tristan) find love with three older hunks (Bull, Spook, Harry), with the key venue being Bronco's, a gay bar in central Pennsylvania where the young men dance and the older guys own, or hide out in.

In this book Angus, a hot mid-30s fireman originally from Scotland, and Kevin, the kind of cute and very geeky young one who has yet to find his love, meet in tragic circumstances and proceed to experience more tragedy, angst, love, lust and doubt as the plot unwinds.

This is the kind of stuff Andrew Grey excels at and in this one he really gets somewhat gruesome with all the fire activity, but it's key to everything. The romance is very rocky indeed, there are a couple of other (unrequited gay) characters who are perfectly set up to start a new series, and there is a general good feeling at the end.

My only complaint would be a spoiler, so I won't mention it because it's not as important to the book as are the implications of the cover. Woof!

Love this author

I love this series. I am sad to see it end but understand that now all the guys have found love their stories are finished. I was happy to see that Andrew Grey has said that he plans to do a series involving so of the guys we met in this book. I can't wait to see what come next. I have always enjoyed the fact that several of his series all revolve around the same town so you are always getting hints about other things from different stories.
