Definitive Text for Shaft Alignment Work

Quite simply, this is the definitive text for shaft alignment work. If you do any type of machinery alignment, you need a copy of this book. Just about every situation is covered in this text. The author does seem to have a bias against "laser" alignment devices, but other than this, there is little to fault in this book. Highly recommended.

There are very few books about machinery alignment. This is the best I have encountered for machinery alignment. The tried and true methods and techniques discussed in this book are what is used in the industry for large rotating equipment.

An added bonus of this book is the detailed history of rotating equipment and related alignment methods.

Groundbreaking and effective

This book goes far beyond any other book I have ever read about female sexuality, and believe me I've read plenty of them over the years. It encourages you to go beyond thinking about sex per se and to use your sexual life force to begin functioning sexually on a much higher level, beyond anything you might even have considered possible.

These procedures are designed to give you complete mastery over your body's physical responses. Some can be difficult in the
beginning but practice makes them easier. For example, he shows you step-by-step how to channel sexual energy so that instead of
having a physical climax, you can spiral that very energy throughout your body, one location at a time. This has the effect of revitalizing all your organs, glands, and nerves in each location as the energy passes through it. Those familiar with the macrocosmic orbit will recognize the procedure. Once you develop this ability, you will be able to experience greater and more fulfilling physical climaxes that are not localized but involve your entire body. Ultimately it's designed to enable you and your partner to experience a complete physical and spiritual union as well as a union with God or the universe or the higher power or whatever you want to call it..

Since it can be difficult to do the steps he describes while holding the book in your hand and reading the instructions, I recommend taping yourself reading the instructions out loud at an un-hurried pace and then using the tape instead of the book to guide you through the exercises.

This is a challenging book but completely rewarding if you actually start putting the steps into practice. I had some resistance in the beginning to going and trying some of them. It was much easier to just keep reading. But when I pushed through and followed his instructions for a few things, I was really impressed and inspired by the way they made me feel. The first time I sat down and actually did the entire ovarian breathing process - and believe me, I did NOT do it perfectly - I felt an awakening in my body that was profound and inspiring.. I've been practicing raja, hatha, and swara yoga for a while, so I guess I was ready, but I feel that this book can benefit anyone with even the slightest inclination to try some of the methods he provides, and just a little bit of practice will go a long way.

This book isn't for everyone. It's not a bunch of intellectual exercises, but it does involve your mind as well as your body and your
spirit. It provides very practical physical steps that you can do by yourself, and later with your partner. If you think you're going
to simply read it and have it change your life, you could be disappointed. To get the most out of this book you will have to apply
yourself. But even if you simply read it, it can open your mind to what is possible. The rewards will probably be on a scale with
how much effort you put into it.

It says 'Mantak' is the author however I think his wife wrote or closely edited this book. The personality of this book is precious.

I think it is the best book they produced and it is one of the first written if not published a little later. If you are into martial arts, this information can be very meaningful to begin to comprise a rare and viable path. It can be easily misunderstood from western conventional thinking. It's like learning to unfathom the art to make good tea now that you appreciate good coffee. The formulas are within oneself, so it is a good usable guide to discover the language and thinking processes or mindset for developing one's own "Formulas". It briefly touches upon the deleterious karmic consequences of tantric yoga mal- practice, however that is a whole'nother'world and if you are truly seeking an alternative way, this book could be a catalyst to helping you to finding your destiny.. A spiritual view and method of sexual practice. As a woman who was raped in the past, I wanted to be able to look at sex from a different perspective other than someone's lust. This book doesn't deal with the subject of rape (one should visit a councilor for that), but rather reveals practices and methods for healing and rejuvenating the body through work with herself and also a loving sexual partner. A celibate woman may also benefit from these exercises. Breathing exercise and explicit diagrams are also used. This is esoteric knowledge which for centuries was secret in China. It's a wealth of fabulous knowledge and very helpful. There is a companion book for men as well. Oh, to find a partner trained in this method!

The fitting conclusion to a great series

I received a review copy of How to Fight a Dragon's Fury a few weeks before the book actually went on sale. In true spoiler sport fashion, I flipped to the back of the book and read the epilogue. I did the same thing when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out, and I'll do it in the future with other series too. I have to know if a series I have invested myself in is going to end well or if I'm going to be disappointed. I am here to tell you that the twelfth and final installment of Cressida Cowell's popular series did not disappoint.

From the time the series started in 2004, the books have been growing in length. How to Train Your Dragon was a mere 224 pages compared to the behemoth 472 pages that is How to Fight a Dragon's Fury. The main plot lines of this final book involve crowning the King of the Wilderwest (Hiccup Horrendous or Alvin the Treacherous) and a showdown between dragonkind (led by the dragon Furious) and humankind. The dragons have rebelled and believe that they must destroy humanity or risk being destroyed themselves. Only one boy, Hiccup, believes that the world is not black and white. He believes that the two races can coexist and there can be peace between the two. The problem is that he has to convince the enormous dragon Furious this. He also has to do this while being undermined and plotted against by Alvin and his mother the witch.

The writing in this book was beautiful at times and made me forget I was reading aimed at a young boy. "Love never dies [ . . . ] Once we love, we cannot forget, though the flesh hardens around the wound that once bled, though it be buried in one hundred years of chains and twisted around with cruel, growing thorns of the choking forest." I think this quote sums up the series. This is more than an adventure series about riding and fighting dragons. This is a coming of age series, and it's also a love story. Don't mistake me. It's not your traditional love story. It's about a boy whose heart was so pure that he saw the world not as it was but as it could be, as it should be. Peace. Harmony. Love.

However, as great a character as Hiccup is, my favorite character in the series grew to be Fishlegs. To reference Harry Potter, Fishlegs is the Neville of this series. He started off a pathetic, little boy whose character and our knowledge of the character grew with each book. In this final installment, he not only comes into his own, but discovers who his father is. I won't spoil it for you, but their interaction will make you proud of Fishlegs. The Epilogue at the end of the book was a nice touch, and it was written by an adult Hiccup. In it, he reflects on his life and whether or not he was a success or failure. He also explains why we cannot see dragons anymore, but assures the readers that they are still present, just hiding. Lastly, he encourages readers to make the world a better place, in case the dragons ever do come out of hiding. I'm sad to see the series end, but I appreciate the author not milking the series and dragging it out indefinitely. I'll definitely pass this series on to my son when he is old enough, and I look forward to reading it with him when the time comes!

Best series ever- sorry to see it end

This series is by far the best we've read, and like so many others have noted, my son and I are so sad that there will be no more adventures with Hiccup and his crew. The books are SO much better than the movies and very different. We have hoped for a long time now that they might make movies from the books- true to the characters and stories in them. How much fun would naughty little Toothless (always pooping where he's not meant to and eating things he shouldn't) and the wildly clever Camacazi, and the crude and crass Gobber....it is a mystery why it hasn't already been done!

About the Author
Philip Kotler is the SC Johnson & Son Distinguished Professor of international marketing at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. He received his Master s degree at the University of Chicago and his PhD at MIT, both in economics. Dr Kotler is the author of Marketing Management, now in its thirteenth edition and the world s most widely used marketing textbook in graduate schools of business. He has authored dozens of other successful books and has written more than 100 articles in leading journals. He is the only three-time winner of the coveted Alpha Kappa Psi award for the best annual article in the Journal of Marketing. He has consulted with many major US and international companies in the areas of marketing strategy and planning, marketing organisation and international marketing. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and South America, advising companies and governments about global marketing practices and opportunities. Gary Armstrong is the Crist W Blackwell Distinguished Professor of Undergraduate Education at the Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina. He holds undergraduate and Master s degrees in business from Wayne State University and he received his PhD in marketing from Northwestern University. Dr Armstrong has contributed numerous articles to leading business journals. Excellent introduction.. I would like the rest of the book!!

Excellent introduction.. I would like the rest of the book!! This introduction has some excellent arguments on irreducible complexity, explaining that the science during Darwin's day contained a lot of hypothesis and did not take into account DNA or other modern scientific developments and understanding. Those modern developments call into question suppositions in the theory. This information should be presented in every classroom, for young, inquiring minds to look at so that they have the modern scientific evidence of today rather than just a theory and hypothesis. As the summary for A states: "Without a preening gland, birds cannot function with feathers. Without a unique muscular apparatus, special breathing and hollow bones, flight would not be possible. There is no evidence in the fossil record to show developing stages from reptiles to birds. We would expect to see a number of intermediary forms, but all we do see is complete creatures." Worth reading and pondering, this book is on my Top Shelf, and I will be looking for the rest of the publication as soon as it becomes available. I HIGHLY recommend this for its down to earth, easily understood explanations and clear reasoning - it is a title worth your while to read, absorb, understand and ponder.

About the Author
Meredith Wadman has covered biomedical research politics from Washington for twenty years. She is a reporter at� Science and has written for Nature, Fortune, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. A graduate of Stanford and Columbia, she began medical school at the University of British Columbia and completed her medical degree as a Rhodes scholar at the University of Oxford.

Writers are ever attracted to the development of modern medicine and biochemistry. At the top of my list is the book "Cancer: the Emperor of all Maladies". Next could be "Science Fictions" and the life of Robert Gallo. Then might be the biography of Paul Berg at Stanford, and gene recombination. Now we have "The Vaccine Race", by Meredith Wadman. These tombs tend to present a challenge to the reader to accommodate the obscure language of Biochemistry. It is a relief that Wadman reads easily. We can accept the ability of viruses to grow in human fetal cells as a simple fact.

The life of a research scientist is a thread that runs through these books. After decades of research to the benefit of mankind, something happens to principle investigators. They become autocratic and difficult to work with. Worse, they break the law and the ethics of their profession. Their careers go up in smoke. The strain of cutting edge research and bureaucratic interference is too much to bear. We are humble before the limits of human ambition and endurance.

Wadman tells a good story, about the competition between pandemics and vaccines. It takes a few chapters to set her pace and then she takes off. If some chapters are too detailed, we can get the story from the first sentence in each paragraph.

As a scientist and recipient of the human diploid rabies vaccine I thought I would enjoy this book - I did not. It is annoyingly repetitive (to the point where I thought my kindle has a flash back). The author "speaks" with a variety of "voices" - sometimes she uses scientific terms with descriptions and definitions, sometimes she uses over the top adjectives to describe scientists, events, or particular patients, and sometimes she makes novice mistakes as "Plasma is another word for blood serum." Mistakes like that (made by a physician) make one wonder about the veracity of her other scientific descriptions. It is unclear why she insists on using the word "womb" when describing the uterus, unless she believes it has more "emotional" connotation. One could expose the political and competitive issues in the vaccine race without bias. She did not do so. She frequently claims the moral high ground, apparently unaware that our current ability to enlarge our moral circle is a direct result of the fact that in the US (for the most part) our basic needs have been met, we do not suffer from mass epidemics that kill and paralyze, or maim or citizens, and we have disposable time and income. When read as a made for TV novel, rather than scientific history, it is an average, slightly cumbersome read. It could have been a great well written story - it was not

The Vaccine Race is a Readable Tale of Intrigue and Science

The Vaccine Race is one of the most compelling books I've read in years. It is a book that delves deeply into the complex and troubling history of vaccine development in the United States, but it is more than just a science history. It also is a fascinating study of how some of the nation's brightest scientists, proving both altruistic and flawed, competed to find the next vaccine against ravaging diseases of the time. It is full of juicy details and thoughtful insights about the men and women who toiled away in laboratories to make sure kids could be protected and live long, healthful lives. The sections about Len Hayflick were especially intriguing to me, as they painted a portrait of a man fighting a Don Quixote-like battle to discover the hidden mysteries of the WI-38 cells. He is a flawed hero who owes his successes and failures to his own erratic decisions, and as a reader, I felt drawn into the web of his story and choices. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves absorbing writing and great storytelling.
